Pavers and Retaining

Lehi Block was founded by our father Art Powell in November 1945. He spent many long days starting at 5 AM quarrying pumice for a site by Utah Lake, manufacturing block until late afternoon and then delivering until dark. Today Lehi Block is still owned and operated by family. All four siblings work together to become an unbeatable team. Mac Powell is President. Alda Porter is Secretary/Treasurer. Lorin Powell is a Board Member and I, Terry Powell, am Vice President. We continue the heritage our father started on the corner of his property in Lehi, producing exceptional quality concrete products and providing down home professional service.

We are continually striving for excellence and improving our products for the Utah Valley, extending to Salt Lake City and Provo. As a result, we exceed all requirements set forth by the ASTM International on the performance of materials, products and systems. Dad was always of the opinion that if a little cement is good, then more is better. This has proved itself, our products have performed exceptionally well all these years in the destructive freeze/thaw environment of the mountain west.

Lehi Block was among the very first to introduce interlocking concrete pavers to the United States in 1978. In 1995, Art Powell designed and patented a retaining wall block system for which we coined the name ‘Artstone’ after our father.

We are members of the NCMA (National Concrete Masonry Association) and ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute) which provide research, technical papers and support for retaining wall block systems and paver systems.

We have a great love for the hardscape products we produce and have been involved with all aspects from manufacturing to final installation. Our experience spans the hardscape industry from its infancy until now, witnessing the changes as new and better ways are accepted.

As Vice President, I am the one called out if there is a problem that needs to be addressed. This has given me over 30 years of knowledge and experience I am more than happy to pass on to assure your that your retaining wall installation and paved areas will last and perform a lifetime.
